“An engaging storyteller and she had a perfect mix of history with just a touch of creepy. Our kids loved it as well…” – Jenn
“I love history and I love mysteries, so haunted history was a natural match for me,” declares Sally Lobkowicz, Owner of Red Cloak Tours.
A researcher and writer specializing in genealogy and history, Sally, with the help of her husband Greg Latimer, put these talents to work learning about the towns of midcoast Maine, beginning with Damariscotta in 2007. Now called a “Maineologist” by some, she shares many areas of Maine’s history on Red Cloak Tours.
Pouring over the dusty pages of public and private collections, surfing the Internet for leads about Maine mysteries, and conducting personal interviews, they created the first Haunted History Tour just in time for that 2007 Halloween season.
Using her trademark red cloak with period dress from the 1800’s and combining well-researched facts with her unique story-telling style, Sally became known as The Lady in Red Cloak.
The popularity of the tours has increased over the years, so Sally often spends the winter months doing more research about Maine history in order to add new venues, new types of tours and partnerships. Just during 2020, 4 new areas have been added to bring the total of communities served to 12.
Over the years, Sally has added the twists of Food, Lighthouses, Folklore, Secrets and more. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge with you for a 15th season full of Red Cloak Tours.
